That's Awesome, I'm Loving It.

Whilst I had the entire day to do nothing I decided to finish digi-painting this, I started it a while ago. The line art is by Qiqo

I needed to practice painting and couldn't find any paper >.<

And I'm just now realizing the skin colour is a little off...

[EDIT]

This came about from me dropping the stylus onto the wacom tablet whilst I was doing the Chun Li picture. I liked the shape so I began sketching it out and that's where this came from, some sort of Alien piloting a mech.

"It is known that there are infinite number of worlds, simply because there is infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so average population of all planets in Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that population of whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely products of deranged imagination."

I refuse to allow this topic to die smile.gif

I will render this. Anyone spot any anatomical flaws (Besides the slight cartoonishness)?

I believe I haven't told you guys, but lately I try my hands on doing the so called "cable soldiers" - these are spiffy little guys you make with cable. Let me show you one of those, giving you flowers smilesmall.gif

@JKKF: You need to upload your images onto an imagehost, such as Photobucket, Imageshack, or tinypic. I use tinypic, it even gives you the code, which should look something like

Wow, that's some lovely work, everyone!

What can I say, old habits die hard. I've never stopped drawing and now I've returned to one of my favourite "motifs" from five years ago.

I have to admit I'm really quite smug about the shading worked out. I liked the original picture because the shading fits Luke rather well - he's not the innocent youth any more and stands somewhere between light and darkness (somewhat like in that scene on the Death Star when he's hiding from Vader). I also consciously decided not to smooth out the shading more because the visible pencil lines give it a certain "roughness" that also seems fitting (of course, I still managed to make my usual mistake of making him look younger than he is - somehow when I look at it, I see ESB-Luke instead of the more matured Luke from Jedi.)

But mostly I'm proud of it because for the first time I seem to have managed an actual likeness to Mark Hamill. I don't really know how to put it, but with his face, there don't seem to be those one or two absolutely typical features that you just have to exaggerate a bit to create a good likeness. It's more subtle nuances and things you might only notice at a second glance; and features that can't be grasped in a couple of lines but have to be worked out through shading. That's more difficult, because while drawing the outlines you never quite know if what you're drawing is going to work out eventually (and at first I had the proportions completely wrong, too - in fact you can still see that faint line at the height of the upper lip where I originally had the mouth drawn too high).
But it was a lot of fun to step up to that challenge and I'm quite pleased with the result.
