So, what do you know about my country? What's your associations with it? Are they bad or good? And what do you think of Poles? What is your image of a Pole? (I mean, appearance, character, skills or something).

Don't be ashamed of saying something bad about them - generally Poles are not great nation, I know that as well, although I'm a good example of Pole tounge.gif

smilehuge.gif

My fastest association is... stupid politics! That's what I forgot write in my poll! eyeball.gif

Unfortunately, I'd have to say the Second World War. I recently went on a trip to Auschwitz In Poland and it was emotional for all of us. sad.gif

Now it's my turn! What do you associate with us Brits, eh? Tea? Bulldogs? Full English Breakfast? I won't be offended, I probably fit a lot of those catogories anyway. smilehuge.gif

You were so close to me and you didn't visit me?! I live close enough from Oswiecim, actually tounge.gif You should have informed me about your trip earlier tounge.gif

Well, my association with the UK is - London, Full English Breakfast absolutely, and a lot of Poles here (especially in London), what else... maybe Top Gear and Jeremy Clarskon! smilehuge.gif and so elegant people! AND YEAH YEAH THAT'S WHAT I LOVE!: nice streets with houses bulit from these pretty, smooth bricks (it's still rarity here in Poland)... ... tounge.gif

And Bane! What time do you usually drink tea? You probably don't know, but here in Poland is stereotype, that Englishmen drink tea ALWAYS at 5 o'clock. Of course I know it's not true satisfied.gif tounge.gif

I also said WWII... thinking.gif

With the Britains, I associate 5-o'clock-tea, Lords, Big Ben, traditions and meat with peppermint sauces... scared.gif I suppose that's an old-fashioned association, isn't it? I mean, there are so many Britains of my age, also here in BH and I don't think one of them could be associated with Lord or something like that...

(I hope that I didn't make a horrible mistake there...is it Lord Craig or Lady Jackie? smilehuge.gif tounge.gif confusedsmall.gif )

Haha! No, I'm not a Lord, I'm not gallant enough. I imagine if I was to be royalty, I'd be a lot like Prince Harry. evil.gif
We do have something over here which is somewhat of a tradition, then again I don't follow it. It's called "Elevensies", and it basically means to have a cup of tea and a snack at 11 o clock, just before lunch. I'm not sure how many Briton's actually stick by this anymore, but it's a nice concept. BREAK OUT THE BISCUITS! smilehuge.gif

Double Decker Buses: And that.
Awful Bread: No way, our bread's great!
Two Taps: Yes, that's also true, but I only have the one.
Sheep: Yep.

British bread is great for making toasts, but not ordinal sandwiches that I like. I think it was the biggest cultural shock for me... I mean, you can bounce it off the walls tounge.gif

USA = absolutely FAST FOOD FAST FOOD FAST FOOD! And fat people who always eat fried food tounge.gif , reality shows. And... Hollywood winkgrin.gif

Germany = here are good associates smile.gif I love that country: cleanliness, beer, Bavaria, Aachen msn_love.gif, great economy.
but there is one bad: Hitler thinking.gif , the members of the S.S, Auschwitz, Birkenau. The men who are in some part responsible for our current situation in Poland.

But I still don't get some people from Poland. They don't like Germans because of the past, Second World War, but they are not responsible for people who lived in the past and who destroyed so many human beings! But they didn't atack Poles! I don't know why they think all the Germans are like that. They didn't live yet in these times and I'm pretty sure they don't think as Hitler did. I like Germans, I hate Hitler though.
