Wasn't sure which topic to put this in, so I figured I'd make a whole new thread. Hope y'all don't mind. Anyway saw this: http://www.movieweb.com/news/star-wars-episode-vii-wants-ryan-gosling-and-zac-efron on a couple of sites.

I'm not a fan of Ryan Gosling although he was good in Remember the Titans. I have no idea who this Zak Efron is although I hear that both could play the Skywalker and Solo children. I hope it's not true. But I heard at least JJ Abrams is keeping John Williams to do the score, so that should be good!

What do you think of it?

Posted by: jedimasterskid Jul 26 2013, 01:49 PM

ZAC EFFRON NO!I don't want no singing dancing git to be in this. Ryan gossling never heard of him but my wife says that he is a good actor.

If what is speculated to be true and trying to follow the EU then they have already F@?ked up! 30 years after ROTJ is the Yuuzhan Vong wars. Luke's son Ben is only a few years old (maybe less if memory serves me right will have to look it up) and which Solo kid is he talking about? Anakin? Jacen? they are teenagers round this time (again memory serves have to look up) so Already if this is true it is f&%ked up.

Stay calm skid...at this point there is still hope... wink.gif

True true but I don't want my world/religion to be changed I like it how it is

Posted by: greenangel Sep 10 2013, 12:27 AM

I know how you feel...my whole world depends on these next three movies... smile.gif if they would only let me and you direct.... smilehuge.gif

I really hope they wont deliberately ignore the prequels, cos the prequels often receive unfair treatment from those OT fans and I heard JJ Abrams was one of those... Star Wars is a universe, you can't ignore something you don't like.

and BTW there was a rumor about Benedict Cumberbatch starring in the new films. I thought that'd be awesome but apparently it was just a rumor sad.gif

Posted by: Rebel_A96 Sep 14 2013, 10:27 PM

Master--I don't know how he could skip the prequels or at least not elude to them in the new movie. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you should skip what GL considers to be cannon (or whatever the right word for it is).

Did you hear that Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be in The Hobbit? I heard he was going to either play Sauron or one of his evil minions. Yeah here we go, scroll down to Foes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hobbit_%28film_series%29
He was pretty good in the new ST film, so I'm thinking he'll be really good in this film as well.

Posted by: Master Sep 16 2013, 10:09 AM

Benedict Cumberbatch is to play Smaug if I remember correctly.

well you are probably right, its just the fear I have, I don't think Lucas really has a say in this. PT is often treated unfairly by the old-timers. And we already know Abrams will butcher the cannon we know by ignoring all books.

Posted by: Rebel_A96 Sep 17 2013, 03:25 PM

Master--why wouldn't Lucas have a say in it? I know he sold the company, but SW is his baby.

^I agree with you there although I'm really hoping I'm wrong! I know this is coming out next year, but normally people hear something. This whole thing is really under lock and key.

Posted by: Master Sep 18 2013, 07:31 AM

Star Wars is his baby, but he grew tired of it, so... who knows if he even cares about what happens to SW? Here an important quote:

QUOTE
When Lucas passed the torch, so to speak, by selling his company to Disney, he really meant it when he said he was moving on. He’ll be there as a source of canonical information, as someone who may know the details or relationships of certain characters that perhaps were only briefly touched on in the six films so far, but the new scripts will tell a new story and the new director will direct without answering to Lucas.

Posted by: Rebel_A96 Sep 21 2013, 08:30 PM

Oh. Interesting. Thanks for the quote Master. I understand someone getting tired of something, but how can he just hand it off to someone else and trust them? Since they don't have to answer to Lucas, do you think that's a good thing for them or bad? I mean in a sense where you know how some directors are hard to work with and some are a breeze, I wonder which Lucas was.

Posted by: Master Sep 24 2013, 07:15 AM

I think he was something in the middle. Have you seen "the making of" videos? I loved those about ROTS. You can see how hard everyone was trying to make something that he'd like. I think he was maybe harsh but fair. And he really cared about his universe.

Posted by: jedimasterskid Sep 26 2013, 10:46 AM

Isn't Lucas the biggest shareholder in Disney? so if it the movies goes belly up could he maybe pull the plug on this project?

Posted by: Rebel_A96 Sep 27 2013, 04:46 AM

Master--I've seen some of the making of videos, but sometimes they bore me so I haven't seen it the whole way through. Okay, I thought he was like that, thought I heard that he was half/half to work with, thanks for the confirmation.

jedimasterskid--not sure to your question. Maybe Master will know more than I do.

And just to tell you all, I'm not going to be checking in as much as I used to because there's something wrong with our recharger for our laptop. It's not recharging, I'm on 7% power right now. So whenever I get a new cord, I'll come back on! Hope you all have a good weekend.

God, I hope they are just rumours... it would be good to see actors with more talent than favourable face structure..

Latest news: http://movies.yahoo.com/news/star-wars-adam-driver-near-deal-play-villain-202158411.html

I have no idea as to who this person is to form an opinion. I do think Hugo Weaving is a good actor, but Michael Fassbender is okay. He was good in X-Men: Origins, but I didn't like Prometheus.

So what are your thoughts?

Posted by: Master Feb 28 2014, 07:41 AM

Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving are amazing actors, that's for sure. I still think the movie's gonna be a disaster though.

Posted by: Rebel_A96 Feb 28 2014, 03:51 PM

I really hope it won't be b/c didn't Lawrence Kasdan work on ESB? But then again the same people who did the first Jaws, did the second…and the second wasn't that good. Someone on Yahoo suggested that Hugo Weaving would make a great Thrawn. Do you think so?

Posted by: Master Mar 3 2014, 07:48 AM

I think Benedict Cumberbatch is the best possible candidate to play Thrawn. He would be perfect. Unfortunately, they wont make a movie about Thrawn, I'm pretty sure about that. sad.gif

They want to create their own story, which is a pity considering how amazing Timothy Zahn's books are.

I have no idea who some actors are, please no time travel, and I don't see how that actress can be a descendant of Obi-Wan's. Maybe Mace Windu. *shrugs*

What do you all think?

Posted by: *LeiaOrgana* Mar 23 2014, 06:03 PM

I have been preemptively pessimistic about the new movie(s), seeing as the PT has crushed my belief in somebody in the movie industry still being in it for the "story" part of storytelling. I remain sceptical, but your link, Rebel, has actually gotten me a little bit excited.

I have not read any EU material from the Thrawn era, I'm mostly interested in the chronologically early material such as the X-Wing series with I think my latest being "I,Jedi", so I can't say much about that storyline. I'm reasonably interested in Jacen and Jaina, though, I think there's some good storytelling options there.

In the end I'm definitely gonna watch it and follow the news up to it's release. We'll have to wait and see.

Aah, if only Joss Whedon had gotten the job...

I recently re-read the books for I didn't want to be surprised by a forgotton twist by the movies. IF the movies decide touse any of Zahn's plot, that is.

Point is, I was utterly disappointed by the way the characters were potrayed, the clumsy dialogues, and by the author's style in writing as a whole. I was never a fan of Timothy Zahn, but re-reading his books was painful sad.gif

Anyway, it would be nice to hear other people's opinion of them, especially if it's read for the first time.
*LO* you know how to reach me, if you ever decide to read them. It'd be nice to hear your opinion smilesmall.gif

Weaving, Oldman, and Cumberbatch is enough to get me interested. I loved Cumberatch as Khan in ST II. Weaving as Thrawn maybe? Cumberbatch as a resurrected Emperor?

IDK if Abrams will stick to some of the EU plot or not, but regardless..this cast might be shaping up to be pretty good.

Posted by: Rebel_A96 Mar 27 2014, 06:04 PM

^I hope so M_r. You know sometimes there are good actors/actresses in movies but the movie itself, turns out to be bad? So I'm hoping it's not like this.

Hey are some of you going to join the new forum that bassman made? It'd be cool if you did! smilehuge.gif

I honestly haven't decided on joining the other forum. I absolutely appreciate that it exists for people to discover, but I just don't have the time to post anymore.

RL has caught up to me...
