Sorry Jedilars, I hadn't notice you had posted this message here.

The Republic comic series is a monthly publication that was started around the time The Phantom Menace was released back in 1999. It was just called "Star Wars" to begin with, but when other titles were released it was re-badged Star Wars Republic and tells the stories set in the time of the Prequels. The Star Wars Empire series is the sister publication that tells stories set in the Classic Trilogy era.

star Wars Tales is published every couple of months. The stories can be set in any timeframe & often set outside of regular continuuity. Just recently it was brought back into being a source of good stories, after it had strayed for a while under poor editing & writing.

As true as all this is sadly Darkhorse comics announced that they are going to be doing away with both the Republic and Tales series by the end of the year. It makes me mad because I collect both titles

Personally my wallet will breath a sigh of relief winksmall.gif

All good things come to an end Rik.

The Star Wars franchise has peaked and must rest in just the same way that Star Trek has. Less is More in my opinion smilesmall.gif

I know and it will be good in some respects but in others I kinda hate it but I hope that Darkhorse at least does something concerning the purge of the Jedi

Hee hee thanks. In truth I have developed that list over the years in spreadsheet form since Heir To The Empire was first released and it was simply a matter of re-jiggling it with forum code to recreate it here.... smilesmall.gif

It still needs some updating, As soon as I get a few days off from work I'll get to it.

Has anyone read the comics and any novels of the ancient republic (25,000 years B4ANH) and such up to just before Obi-wans training? I have read most of the books starting with Jedi Apprentice and forward but none of the ones prior. Are they worth reading? Thanks.

You refer to the Tales Of The Jedi comic series & its prequels & sequels listed at the beginning of the topic under "TALES OF THE ANCIENT JEDI & SITH"

THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE SITH
THE FALL OF THE SITH EMPIRE
KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC
THE FREEDON NADD UPRISING
DARK LORDS OF THE SITH
THE SITH WAR
REDEMPTION
JEDI VS SITH

They had a fresh originality to them as far as I am concerned. Personally I think these are among the best comics (star wars or not) that I have read in the last 10 years. Some excellent ideas & complex plots smilesmall.gif

I would thoroughly recommend them.

Not bad, seeing as they all came out of simply setting the backstory for the villain to the Jedi Academy Trilogy or novels by Kevin J. Anderson, the Sith Lord Exar Kun.

Thanks for the info on the anceint republic books, I've got all the original 107 Marvel comics (some were great, some were pretty bad) but I have not read any of the other comics. I've read most of all the EU novels and too many times they refer back to the ancient republic and I hate not knowing what they are talking about. Anyway, thanks for the info, I'll start readin them soon.

Okay it took some time but I have reviewed the Timeline & the result is at the beginning of this topic.

I havent even tried to include those 107 Marvel Star Wars issues yet oo-ta-dee .... lol I have them, but still not read the last few (shhhh dont tell anyone winksmall.gif )

Also not listed are the particular stories from the Star Wars Tales comic that are just so outlandish that they fit no continuity as I see it (eg the entirety of issue 20 - possibly the worst star wars comic ever!!!)

Also excluded are the General Grievous 4 part comic series (still waiting for issue 4) and the latest story-arc in the Empire ongoing series.

As always, comments, observations & constructive suggestions are welcomed.

I have run this through many translator units, even the great C-3PO, but even allowing for the spelling difficulties that you allude to I am confused as to what you are trying to say?

Threepio has suggested you were trying to say "Too many letters filling brain for now"

Could you kindly refraise your question, comment, observation? confused.gif

Nuliaj, you need to update the timeline with books like Last of the Jedi and Secrets of the Jedi smilesmall.gif

LOL

Curses! I was hoping no-one would notice wink.gif

Yeah I admit to being a bit behind on this along with my actual redaing of the books. I received Last of the Jedi #4 in the post yesterday from Amazon.... My "To Read" list has become just too long lol. Still not read Outbound Flight, and I have been looking forward to reading that since 1994 wink.gif

I will get to work on it smilesmall.gif
