I have been preemptively pessimistic about the new movie(s), seeing as the PT has crushed my belief in somebody in the movie industry still being in it for the "story" part of storytelling. I remain sceptical, but your link, Rebel, has actually gotten me a little bit excited.

I have not read any EU material from the Thrawn era, I'm mostly interested in the chronologically early material such as the X-Wing series with I think my latest being "I,Jedi", so I can't say much about that storyline. I'm reasonably interested in Jacen and Jaina, though, I think there's some good storytelling options there.

In the end I'm definitely gonna watch it and follow the news up to it's release. We'll have to wait and see.

Aah, if only Joss Whedon had gotten the job...

QUOTE (Master @ Mar 6 2014, 10:11 AM) *
It is an amazing show. Everything about it is perfect, and I just don't get Fox cancelling such great shows while continuing others. Whedon is an awesome guy, I actually think he can make amazing Episode VII.

That I would watch!

I heard the rumor somewhere that it was a trade -- cancellation of Firefly for the continuation of another show, I think it was Dollhouse? Any info on that rumor?

I know I'm late to the party, but:
QUOTE (Blue Harvest @ Feb 18 2004, 10:00 PM) *
Since I knew the show had been cancelled I debated with myself for a long long time before I finally decided to go ahead and see it. I just knew that I´d fall in love with the show and miss it terribly. I´m a huge fan of Joss Whedon´s work, so I justified my final desition with that I had to see this new show of his. I issue this warning along with my praise: you will love the show and you will become obsessed.

Same here. Knowing how awesome this show is and knowing it's a limited resource made us really want to space things out. We started watching together with a friend last autumn and have only made it 4 or 5 episodes in, as it's tough to schedule time together. I am hopelessly in love none the less! My fiancé got me the firefly guidebook last christmas and it's patiently sitting on the shelf till I can read it spoilerfree.

Since I left the forum I have become a *huge* fan of Buffy! This is the most amazing thing TV has ever seen and I've watched the whole show upwards of six times. luv.gif

Like most I love Spike. And Giles. And Tara. msn_love.gif

Apart from my engagement I have to say that the best part of last year was getting my fiancé to fall in love with Buffy. This is going to be an awesome life! cool.gif

Buffy has also gotten me into the theory behind storytelling. Ever since I read up on the Buffy Meta that's out on the internet I've never watched another TV show or movie without thinking about what the theme is and why which scenes were included and what they are trying to say about the characters. Is that true for anybody else?

I checked X-Wing and Wedge, just because I enjoyed what I read of the series/character so much. And because there was no checkbox for Corran Horn and/or Mirax Terrik. I'm a big time 'shipper.

But reading your comments -- Mara Jade it is! It would be so awesome to see that! cool.gif

Good lord, this is getting tougher by the minute. sadbig.gif No matter how abruptly I left, now that I'm back I. don't. want. to. let. go.

I would like to share a few awesome things I have not seen mentioned in this thread yet:

  • Congrats Blue on having the most awesome forum software I have ever come across. It is your fault that I have never felt *quite* right with any other interface. And thank you for trusting us to edit our posts and without the mandatory [edited] flag.
  • What's much more, congrats on having the awesomest set of smileys ever to exist. Honestly. No other place, messenger, app, website, anything I have ever been has had emoticons that were so beautiful and simply so fitting to express my emotions. Honestly, they're so good that I sometimes think I adapted my feelings to them, not the other way round. One of the reasons I loved MSN messenger so much (back when it was cool) was the ability to insert your own smileys. Guess what I used. I might actually have just downloaded the whole set right now just to be sure I always have them.
  • Talking about MSN, just how many of you I used to have daily chats with outside of BH. Those were the best hours (yes, hours) of my day back then. msn_love.gif
  • Logging in today and still having an average of 3,36 posts per day. And that's over more than 9 years. That's... wow.
  • Since I only recently switched my main email address to something containing my real name I spent many, many years spelling out my contact information to everyone ("I'm gonna have to spell that, it's blettieleia, one word, that's b-l-e-double t-i-e-l-e-i-a-at-gmail-dot-com. Oh, what it means? Well you know Star Wars, right, and then there's this community, where... no, totally not weird") filled with pride and varying amounts of shame, depending how official the situation. blush.gif But that address is still active and actually the one I log in with, so if you ever want to drop a line...

I hope I still have my old MSN protocols, I never kept a diary but that is about as close as I could get to one.

I was too young back then for any Blettie meetup (my parents had done a good job of implanting that "never meet anybody IRL you met on the internet" tagline in me) but if we had one today I'd totally go. Just sayin. Puting it out there.

I have never forgotten this place and that's not going to happen. Take this big warm hug from me. hug.gif

I really feel sorry for those of you that didn't have Halloween as kids! Going to school in a costume; piles of free candy from strangers: what could be better?!

No worries, we got Karneval and St. Marins, respectively, for that. smilehuge.gif

And my last costume was my favorite, I dressed up as a cat and then got out my lightsaber and went out as a, or as I call it, Kitty Jedi Knight. I lite it up too so people could see it.

Now that's just cool! cool.gif Great idea!

We're not really into Halloween here, although it's coming. What we do have is Karneval, and some people have the greatest costumes, but I just don't like spending all the money and time on it. The most I ever was was Christine from "The Phantom of the Opera" and still no one recognised me. Oh well, at least I had fun. wink.gif

come to scotland!! the main attraction is obviously that i'm here.... but it's beautiful. you could hire a car and drive up to the highlands, it's freezing and rains a lot but there is some gorgeous countryside. and Edinburgh is ace too, the underground ghost town tours are supposed to be good, and then you can visit me in Glasgow too smilehuge.gif

Friends of mine once traveled through ireland by public busses. Maybe that's possible in scotland, too?

Zideric, I think the question has been sufficiently answered by Zee Zee. That is, if you accept EU. If not you can just imagine the story that you personally prefer.

Hehe, Zideric, I never saw it that way. It is kind of cool if you think about it.

However, I think it makes sense to build the housings just like they did. For one, it's a really great idea to live under the sand if you want to keep your house cool without investing lots of energy. But you have to get in and out. Since the igloo shape geometrically has the smallest surface containing the largest space possible it just makes sence to use it for entrances. Igloos and desert homes come down to the same principle: Highest difference of temperatures inside and out while using the least resources.

Well, PT doesn't quite belong in here. But I'll agree that the droids walking through the battle unharmed has quite the slapstick power.

To me the anwer is easy: Look at Vader! He couldn't care for himself if not for machines and he's not exactly springy anymore. Aside from being really strong in the force (unlike some random nobody Palpatine might pick up) Luke seems like the much stronger person, he's got all the emotion and hot-headednes to be a raging sith. All he needs is some good training, and Palps can provide that. He's experienced at turning really promising really good Jedi into really bad Sith. wink.gif If I were him I'd definitely go for Luke.

Well, Stormtroopers are wusses. toungebig.gif

No, honestly, I know what you mean. If I think about it there are many things that seem strange.
The biggest problem I see is the one with the stones. What I could imagine to be the explanation ist that the Stormies were suprised and overwhelmed by being attacked by these "things" (remember, imperial ideology does not value non-humans in any way) and maybe just a little arrogant to really fight back. That alone could have led to their demise.
Oh, and also, if some of the stormies were really smart they could use the battle to fake their own death, thereby escaping the constant threat of a very painful death at the hands of some rebel or vader himself, and set up a nice life on such a fertile planet. Or maybe even join the rebels. I know it's speculation, but it might account for some of the "gravel-deaths". wink.gif

I see something simmilar with the Emperor. I don't think he was quite as level-headed as he wanted everyone to think. Sucess probably got to him making him feel invincible. Suspecting he would soon have Luke by his side would also have him believe that the rebellion very soon would be weakend if not destroyed.
