Aye he is but that's probably cos the guy was trying to make it look like a walking furnace.

they're all really recognisable (to me) but a steampunk lightsaber probably wouldn't work- at least not without a massive steam-powered portable generator I notice that the sabers have cords coming out the end- may have justified it myself

I'd really like to see concept art for these, d'you know if there is any?

Unfortunately I don't think there is, there's plenty of images on the site though and yeah I think you did answer it They're probably based on the ancient lightsabers which also had a cord leading to a power pack on the belt or back of the jedi.
