I was blessed enough to see Star Wars when I was a very young kid back in '77. Video tapes were just taking off in the early 80's and my next real chance to watch SW was on tv. I would plan my whole week around watching it. I got to see all of the original trilogy in the theaters and the prequels. Anyway, the movies have always meant a lot to me. They're like old friends. I can't say how many times I've watch the first film but it's never enough.
Where am I going with this ramble? Well, at times I've glanced at the Star Wars Universe and have just been blown away by the sheer volume of material. There are characters, events, and places that are important. They seem to be portrayed one way in the movies and then stuff I read online is a little different or at least a different take on events. I heard about the Wookipedia from this site and was excited to check it out. My first search? IG88. I was immediately impressed with him when I saw Empire. When I checked out the page on Wookipedia it had all this awesome information. At one point it stated that IG88 was himself wanted by the Empire. If he was wanted, why did he stand in the same room as Vader and a group of bounty hunters without problems? With so many disclaimers that the page needed sources desperately what am I supposed to believe is correct information? So, what I'm wondering is this:
1) Where's the best place(s) to find out more about the SW Universe outside of the films?
2) How do you know what's just fan created and what is authentic or accepted as a true part of the Star Wars universe?
