I notice there is no Advertisment board, can I advertise in the off-topic board or is it strictly prohibited?
Darth Nuliaj
It depends upon what you are trying to advertise I would imagine. There are many links to other websites & forums here. As long as they are suitable material for the broad age range of the Forum's members, use your common sense as to whether to Link to them. Inappropriate links will not be allowed to stand.

If you are referring to advertising to sell items or services I think you had better send a PM to Blue herself and when she returns from holiday she can advise you further.

Perhaps you could explain what it is you wish to advertise. Either here or in PM if you would prefer.
Sven
no I just wan't to advertise my forum
Darth Nuliaj
Well as long as you do not constantly advertise it (ie multiple topics to keep doing so - or keep reviving it when no-one else is active on it) then i would say feel free to. Others do as well.

Thankyou for checking first.
Sven
Sure, I wouldn't want to break a rule here.... as this is THE Star Wars Forum. I will just be making one topic in the Off-Topic's board. Thankyou for your trouble.

Plugging a forum in another forum is a serious no-no on most sites. It's considered very bad manners and some webmasters/administrators don't allow it because they think that advertising another forum in their forum is stealing members from their site.

Personally I don't take one-time plugs for another forum too seriously. I do however consider putting a link to another forum in your signature as extreemly rude. Another website, like your personal homepage or something is okay, but another forum is very bad netiquette.

So to make a long story short:
One time post to inform others of another forum that could be interesting is okay.
Posting more than once or even worse: linking another forum into your sig - is not okay.

Thanks for posting and asking! That's very good. msn_yes.gif I hope you will now remove that link from your sig Sven.
Sven
I was gone for a month, I'm back now. I will immidiately edit my signature, I do not want to cause any misunderstandings here and I did not mean to be rude.
Darth Nuliaj
Thanks for following Blue's suggestions Sven.

Welcome back. Were you on holiday? Hope everything is ok smilesmall.gif

What about if the forum has a completly different subject from this one (example a rock band forum). Is that case also forbidden in the signature? smilesmall.gif

Nope Jenny. Links to any forums in Signatures is not allowed. You can create a subject to show people if you think it will be of interest to them.

Oki doki, (not that I have an active forum, I was just curious smilesmall.gif)
